Tilman, H. W.

Voyages To The Arctic And To The Antarctic. London, 1966, Hollis & Carter, First U.K. Edition. 191 pp, 4 maps, 22 photographs. Tilman followed up his Himalayan climbing career with voyages to remote islands at high latitudes, recording climbs on their highest peaks. Reading Tilman is always entertaining, and his books have become a delightful record of sailing and climbing history. Mischief was his boat on most of these, but as Skipper on Patanela, to Heard Island, he writes of his enjoyment in camaraderie on this strong team and of their success on Big Ben. Signed by five members of the Heard Island expedition team, Warwick Deacock, Colin Putt, Grahame Budd, John Crick and Phil Temple. Quite Scarce with signatures, last copy in shop after two sold. DJ VG+, overall near Fine.
