A CLIMBER IN NEW ZEALAND

CLIMBER IN NEW ZEALAND

Ross, Malcolm

London, 1914, Edward Arnold, First U.K. Edition. Xvii, 316 pp, plus 8 pp adverts, frontispiece tissue-guarded photograph of Mt. Cook, 30 B&W Plates. Early climbs in the Mount Cook area recounted by Ross, a founding member of the New Zealand Alpine Club. One amusing Plate shows climbers on a snow slope in city hats, coats and ties, woman in long dress and stylish hat! Some consider Ross' book as one of a collection cornerstones within the range of vintage NZ mountaineering literature. Handsome copy. Gilt lettering, green cloth boards a little worn, with bumped corners, a few stains on front pages, previous owner's signature. Very Good First Edition and hard to find. No DJ, bright and VG.
