CLIMBING & EXPLORATION IN THE BOLIVIAN ANDES

A Record of Climbing & Exploration in the Cordillera Real in the Years 1898 and 1900. Harper & Brothers, London, 1901. First U.K. Edition. 403 pages, 3 maps, several line drawings, appendices. Sir Martin Conway (1856-1937) was an English mountaineer, explorer and cartographer who wrote this scarce book on his explorations in the mountains and Inca lands of Bolivia. Conway's expedition was the first of significance in this area and reached the summit of Mt. Illimani, a difficult peak. They almost reached the summit of Ancohuma too, at the other end of Cordillera Real. Gilt lettering front and spine. Slightly worn, spots on boards. No DJ, VG.
